For over 70 years, St Lucy’s School in Wahroonga has been providing excellence in education for children with disabilities. My Brush Dances Like Me opens a window onto the unique learning experiences of these children.

The children of St Lucy’s enjoy the special benefits of a radical and innovative creative arts program that highlights the value and richness of difference.

The paintings in this exhibition are collaborative works made by the children in their visual arts classes. They are vibrant and joyful explosions of colour that mirror the children’s excitement in the creative process. Guided by Crows Nest artist, Karen Atkins, the children have produced a collection that is beautiful and exhilarating.

The St Lucy’s community is currently raising funds to build a new Creative Arts Centre. My Brush Dances Like Me is the beginning of the St Lucy’s Permanent Art Collection and will ultimately be housed in the Centre’s new gallery space.
