Salmon Galleries is proud to present Eva Ilona Molnar. Eva’s recollections of her journey to Australia in 1956, her many visits back to Hungary since, and the many other countries she has lived and worked in, are the inspiration for this new exhibition of landscapes and portraits - A Gypsy Soul. 'Art
is another form of conversation: stories without words’ Passing through the Suez Canal as a young girl, Eva remembers the procession of pyramids on the banks of the canal and the sounds of the merchants in their boats as they pulled alongside her ship selling trinkets. She recalls those first lonely months at a school where no one spoke her language; time spent daydreaming of a childhood in Hungary, recreating in her mind the countryside of her homeland, and then her joy at discovering the bright blue Australian skies and luminous sunsets. These are the dreamscapes and stories that Eva depicts in her current series of paintings – they are very much the narrative of her life. ‘My art is about my life’s
journey and it is a journey without an end Eva Ilona Molnar is a multi award-winning artist, is represented in a number of regional art galleries and is featured in the publication Who’s Who in Australian Art. A Gypsy
Soul will be officially opened at the Salmon Galleries on Friday,
29th October by Mr Csaba Petyko, Consul Consort for the Republic of Hungary.
