Salmon Galleries is proud to present Mark Payne.

Mark was born in Australia (1955) and began painting in his early 20s. He lived in the UK for many years working as an Art Director for the BBC, which gave him the opportunity to travel, especially in Eastern Europe where he was exposed to Naïve Art.

“This opened the door that allowed me to paint with child-like abandon, experiencing new dimensions in design, colour and space.”

Mark's recent paintings show a transition in painting technique from the use of high colour to a more diffuse, impressionistic style. In this way he creates luminous and idyllic landscapes – perfect sites for an emotional journey back to childhood innocence and the simple pleasures of Nature’s breathtaking beauty.
