Featured Artist - Kim Nelson

Kim NelsonHaunting, ethereal, pensive, mystical, disturbing – all of these words describe the artwork of Kim Nelson. His art quite often commands a complex and intense emotional response from the viewer, something which has made Nelson one of the most exciting artists working today. His work is a mysterious alchemy of sensuality and spirituality.

Having embarked on a career in fine art in 1996 he is part of an emerging array of new artists making their mark on the art world both nationally and internationally. He has completed work for UNICEF, been commissioned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch and deemed a "good investment" by the late Australian investment entrepreneur and art collector, Rene Rivkin. His work can be found gracing the walls of such headquarters as News Corp., New York and the Australia High Commission in London.

Exhibition dates: 6 to 25 September, 2005

A collection of works painted on wood using native Australian timbers ranging from Jarrah, Mountain Ash, Blue & Spotted Gum employing, in part, fifty year old genuine English gold leaf.

In this exhibition Kim Nelson distils various historical art reference points into a collective whole and in the process creates a range of beautiful & finely rendered artworks.
