Italian born artist Patricia Browne creates exquisite 'one of a kind' pieces of jewellery and small handbags, or minaudiere.

"I love the decadence and luxurious feel of the French 18th century, when in its courts everything was rich, lavish and, beyond any dispute, utterly feminine."

This was an era when fashion and beauty were equated with exceptionally ornamental clothing, bejewelled handbags and elaborately crafted neckpieces, earrings and bangles. The lingering, romantic memory of such a culture is what inspires the work of Patricia Browne.

Her exhibition, Primavera Coquette (spring flirt) is a collection of exotic, handmade and wearable artworks. Working with only the finest quality materials, Patricia builds each piece using Murano glass beads, Swarovski crystals, seed beads from Czechoslovakia, semi-precious stones, handmade miniature porcelain roses and her bags are lined with pure silk Dupion. A committed perfectionist, Patricia likens her meticulous approach to her art to that of the skilled craftsmen who produced jewellery for the French aristocracy in the 18th century.
