As an avid collector herself, Karen Atkins is interested in the question: what do these reminders of ‘away from home’ experiences mean in this time of globalisation? What happens to the history and significance of these souvenirs when they are consigned to an op shop and become objects of beauty to a perfect stranger? Some of them are preserved in the paintings of this exhibition. |
